Having graduated from University of South Australia in 1999, and completed a post graduate Masters in Sports Physiotherapy. David has presented at the Sports Medicine Australia conference on “The epidemiology of ankle and knee injuries in basketballers”, and lectured on the Advanced Knee rehabilitation at the Level 2 Sports Physiotherapy Australia course.
Working with elite teams has afforded the opportunity for David to work with, and learn from, numerous coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and sports physicians. Gaining insight into best practice across other disciplines has proved invaluable in understanding how physiotherapy can best assist individuals and teams manage injuries and achieve their goals.
“Having been fortunate to work with athletes across numerous sports, I believe that performance based sports physiotherapy can help recover from injury and achieve their goals. Establishing a thorough management plan with criteria for progression helps athletes safely return to training. A detailed plan allows S+C and basketball coaches plan skills, team training, and gym programs around what an athlete can do – at all stages during the rehabilitation process. Injury should not mean rest and hope for the best. Let’s use rehab to come back in better physical condition and confident to perform”
