Prepare to Run.

 

Running preparation drills can be used to gradually introduce impact following a injury or time away from basketball.

They are also a great way to teach an athlete how to generate high forces with minimal contact time, with direct benefits in physical performance.

In this video there are a series of drills that aim to increase exposure to ground reaction forces.

When progressing through these exercises post injury, monitor for any increase in symptoms during the session and in the 24 hours post.

The drills shown include:

– Pogos

– Ankling

– A Skips

– Hip Lock Run at Wall

 If you have had a recent injury or surgery please consult a health professional prior to attempting these exercises. A Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist will be able to help diagnose your injury, tailor the rehabilitation and ensure it is safe to introduce more challenging drills.
